The proposed project, east of downtown and bordered by New York and Montana Avenues and Bladensburg Road NE, will include an estimated 3,000 condominiums, some with sweeping views of the Washington Monument, and about 140,000 square feet of retail space. Jim Abdo envisions making it a gateway to the city, adorned with stores like Whole Foods and Crate & Barrel, topped off by condos and a health club, with bike paths to the nearby U.S. National Arboretum.


6. Washington Post.  Competing Developers Share Waterfront Ideas

One developer proposed a theater dedicated to Cirque du Soleil performances. Another suggested a produce market similar to the nearby fish market on Maine Avenue SW. A third boasted that his team includes Magic Johnson's urban investment fund. In the end, the Anacostia Waterfront Corp. will chose one of the proposals from five development teams.
